"And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat." ~ Genesis 3:6
Hello all! As far as my creative endeavours go, this has been an intense period of creation for me and I am so grateful for that. It came through to me in a recent meditation that I should be creating art. So, I have been following that guidance, in addition to writing, and sync moments have been confirming that I am on the right path. I have loved art for a long time, and a recent move connected me with much of my art from the past, so I am happy that I have once again begun to play with different mediums in the present.
With that said, today as I research and write, I find myself once again within the lush Garden of Eden. Since being consciously aware of this myth, I have paired the fruit on the tree of knowledge of good and evil with an apple. Yet, after reading Genesis and looking into the symbol of an apple, I uncovered that the fruit on the tree of knowledge of good and evil is in fact unnamed when you consult the bible. Instead, the pairing of the tree with the apple is part of Christian iconography imposed on the myth by the church (the first book in a non-fictional trilogy that I am writing examines this whole idea and symbol much further).
In Genesis the serpent informs Eve that if she partakes in eating from the tree, that in fact it will turn her into a god. So, when Eve and then subsequently Adam eat from the tree, are we to now assume that they are banished from the Garden of Eden as Gods? For eating of the fruit will lead to immortality, according to the serpent...Gods are creators. The bible also states that we are made in his image, again a reference to humans god-like powers. Therefore, for me, I am going to follow this guidance that I am receiving from one of the most sacred of text, assume that I have incarnated as a goddess, and continue to create.
Dream, Love, Believe... ~JYN
